Constituencies
FCR works with the following constituencies in order to promote democracy and to build capacities of marginalised communities by enhancing leadership, strengthening structures and expanding networks to facilitate processes that address priority needs:
Community Based Organisations |
To assist CBO groups to advocate for local development. To support and build the capacity of community leadership to undertake any form of local development they decide upon. |
Ward Committees |
To facilitate processes of engagement between the community and local government. |
A board or committee representing different sectors |
For e.g. church, education, law, agriculture, political representatives etc. will often act as the regulating body for a project or initiative and its beneficiaries. FCR works closely with these representatives, facilitating the establishment of such structures as well as organisational development with them. |
Municipalities |
Municipal officials, such as municipal managers, IDP managers, etc. as well as councillors, to build their capacity to engage with communities around local governance and development processes. |
Provincial and National Government Departments |
Where it is necessary to support the community projects and to promote policy change. |
Non-governmental organisations (NGO's) |
FCR frequently collaborates with other NGO's to undertake research projects and to advocate for policy change at national government level. |
Tertiary learning institutions |
FCR engages with institutions in and around Cape Town on an annual basis where practice and lessons are taken into the classroom. |
Networks of NGO's |
FCR is also active in various networks of NGO's involved in governance-related work. |
