Programme Area
FCR’s programme work is organised to achieve the following objectives:
- To build representative and competent community leaders and structures that co-operate and address local development challenges
- Strengthen existing and new Community Based Organisations, projects, initiatives and civil society/community network structures
- Facilitate the creation of representative community structures that can engage with municipalities and provincial departments and participate in development planning and processes
- Facilitate the establishment of effective community structures including ward committees, school governing bodies and community policing forums.
- Facilitate communities' engagement with an FCR-facilitated inter-community resource and learning network, parti.org.za
- Advocate and promote a culture of tolerance of political and other forums of diversity, and co-operation towards common development objectives
- Produce effective internship programmes for prospective development practitioners focused on practical learning and skills for potential development practitioners and community workers.
Activities for FCR's integrated programme will include:
- Engagement - identifying communities and engaging an initial group to map the situation in terms of community structures and leadership, and identify participants.
- Capacity building (design and facilitation)
- Facilitation of monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, including use of parti.org.za as a monitoring and learning platform
- Development and sharing of learning materials, including via parti.org.za
- Recording, documenting and sharing significant actions and learning, and facilitating the same by participants
- Follow-up support
