"Current challenges of LED: Origins and considerations for the future"
The author of this chapter is a practitioner in various arenas of development and public management. This chapter is based on case studies and practical experience in local governments and related institutions in the Western Cape - particularly with regard to local economic development. It should be noted that the cases which of relevance are primarliy Category B-Municipalities and not Metro (Category A-Municipalities) or District (Category C-Municipalities). This is important to note due to the fact that LED in Category A and C Municipalities often take a distinctly different slant to that of the B-Municipalities.
